Journeys from fiction drawn on the real world

Mel Gibson · 2006 · survival

Mel Gibson's 2006 film, told entirely in Yucatec Maya. On the eve of the Spanish arrival, the hunter Jaguar Paw is seized when raiders burn his rainforest village, and marched through the jungle to a Maya city to be sacrificed. A solar eclipse spares him, and he breaks free to be hunted back through the forest to the coast, where strange ships lie offshore and his world begins to end.
