Journeys from fiction drawn on the real world

Ridley Scott · 2001 · survival

Ridley Scott's 2001 war film, from Mark Bowden's account. In 1993 U.S. Rangers and Delta Force fly into Mogadishu to snatch a warlord's lieutenants from the Bakara Market - a raid meant to last an hour that turns into an overnight battle when two Black Hawk helicopters are shot down. Trapped deep in the hostile city, the soldiers fight through the streets to reach the crash sites and hold until dawn.
