The 1988 sequel, in which Mick Dundee is bored in New York until a Colombian cartel comes after Sue - and he takes the whole problem back to the Northern Territory, where the second half plays as the first film in reverse: the city men lost in country he knows.

Mick Dundee is living in Manhattan with Sue Charlton, out of his depth in a way he was not in the first film - and Sue's ex-husband posts her a roll of film from Colombia and is murdered for it the same day.

The photographs show a cartel boss and his product, and Rico sends men north to get them back - which is the plot, and which the film uses mainly as a reason to get everyone out of the city.

Sue is taken and Mick gets her back with a stuffed crocodile head, a borrowed knife and most of the street population of Manhattan - and then works out that the only way to finish it is on ground he understands.

He takes them to the Northern Territory and lets the country do the work - the cartel's gunmen chased through the bush by an unarmed man and his Aboriginal friends, which is the film's whole joke reversed from the first one.
