Journeys from fiction drawn on the real world

Kevin Costner · 1990 · overland

Kevin Costner's 1990 epic Western. A disillusioned Union officer, Lieutenant John Dunbar, requests a posting to the far western frontier and travels to a remote, abandoned outpost on the Dakota plains. Alone there, he slowly befriends a band of Lakota Sioux, is drawn into their world and takes the name Dances with Wolves - a bond that puts him at odds with the army as it advances across the last free land.
