Agatha Christie's 1937 mystery. The heiress Linnet Ridgeway, honeymooning in Egypt, is shot dead aboard the river steamer Karnak as it cruises the Nile among the ancient temples, and Hercule Poirot, a fellow passenger, must unravel a murder with too many suspects and too perfect an alibi. The route follows the cruise up the Nile from Cairo into Nubia.

   Cairo

   The wealthy newlyweds and their fellow travellers gather in Cairo, where Poirot notices the dangerous tangle of love and resentment among them.

   Aswan

   At Aswan the party boards the steamer Karnak for a cruise up the Nile, the jilted Jacqueline shadowing the honeymooners at every stop.

   Abu Simbel

   Beneath the colossal statues of Abu Simbel the tension breaks into violence, and soon Linnet lies dead in her cabin, the first of several killings.

   Wadi Halfa

   As the Karnak turns at the Nubian frontier near Wadi Halfa and steams back north, Poirot gathers the threads and exposes a murder plotted with cold ingenuity.
