Jeremy Sims's 2015 Australian film, in which Rex, a taciturn Broken Hill taxi driver given only months to live, sets out to drive nearly 3,000 kilometres across the outback to Darwin, drawn by the Northern Territory's brief experiment with legal voluntary euthanasia. What begins as a solitary journey toward death becomes, through the people he meets, a tender meditation on how to live. The route runs the length of the continent, south to north.
