Jules Verne's last great adventure, set on the loneliest shore on Earth. A relief ship carries three keepers to a new lighthouse on Isla de los Estados, off the tip of Tierra del Fuego, where a band of wreckers has been luring ships to their doom; when the keepers are murdered, a lone survivor holds out until rescue, as the pirates try to slip away through the Strait of Le Maire toward Cape Horn.

   The little ship runs south for weeks down the long, empty coast of Patagonia.

   On Isla de los Estados the keepers light the lamp, unaware that Kongre's wreckers share the island with them.

   His comrades murdered, the survivor Vasquez holds on while the pirates flee through Le Maire toward the Horn.
