Jack London's 1903 novel of the Klondike gold rush. Buck, a powerful, pampered dog from a California estate, is stolen and shipped north to the frozen Yukon to haul sleds through the gold fields. Beaten and starved into a harder, older self, Buck masters the wild and the wolf within him, until at last he answers the call of the wild and runs free with the wolf pack.
