Benchley's follow-up to Jaws, and the whole thing happens inside a few square miles of Bermuda reef. A honeymooning couple find a glass ampoule on a wartime wreck, discover it is one of twenty thousand doses of morphine, and are immediately of interest to people who want it - while underneath the wreck is a Spanish treasure ship.

   Hamilton

   A honeymooning couple arrive in Bermuda to dive the reefs - and Benchley wrote the book after meeting the diver Teddy Tucker there, who plays the harbour master in the film and had found real Spanish gold on those reefs.

   The Goliath

   A munitions ship sunk in the war, and off-limits to divers. They come up with a fork, a Spanish coin and a glass ampoule of amber liquid - which turns out to be morphine, and there are twenty thousand more of them down there.

   Gibbs Hill

   Romer Treece's lighthouse, where the treasure hunter identifies the medallion as Spanish, 1714 - and where the morphine is stashed, and where Adam Coffin later dies on a booby trap trying to steal it.

   The Spanish wreck

   Beneath the Goliath, uncovered by the same storm - the Santa Clara, and a gold dragon necklace that will prove the provenance. Benchley built it from the real Constellation, which sank in 1942 on top of a Civil War blockade runner.
