Journeys from fiction drawn on the real world

Tommy Lee Jones · 2014 · overland

Tommy Lee Jones's 2014 anti-Western, from Glendon Swarthout's novel. When three women are driven mad by the isolation of frontier life, the pious spinster Mary Bee Cuddy takes on the task no man will: hauling them by wagon back east out of the Nebraska Territory. She frees the claim-jumper George Briggs to help, and together they cross the plains and the Missouri toward a church in Iowa.
