Ridley Scott's 1991 film, in which two friends, the meek housewife Thelma and the waitress Louise, set off from Arkansas for a weekend away that goes catastrophically wrong. After a killing outside a roadhouse, they flee west across the American Southwest, hunted, and find on the road a wild freedom they will not give up. The route runs from Arkansas toward the canyons of the West.

   Arkansas

   Thelma and Louise leave their Arkansas town in a green Thunderbird for a weekend away, and at a roadhouse along the way a violent encounter changes everything.

   Now fugitives, they head west across Oklahoma, meaning to reach Mexico, with the law and Thelma's husband closing in behind them.

   Through the deserts of the Southwest, robbed and betrayed and then defiant, the two women shed their old lives and become something freer and more dangerous.

   The Grand Canyon

   Cornered at last on the rim of a great canyon, with the police arrayed behind them, Thelma and Louise choose to keep going rather than go back.
