Tim Moore's 2004 comic travelogue, in which he walks the 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago across northern Spain accompanied by a donkey named Shinto, a beast as obstinate and put-upon as Stevenson's Modestine a century before. Funny, footsore and unexpectedly moving about pilgrimage and persistence. The route follows the Camino Frances from the French Pyrenees to Santiago.

   St-Jean-Pied-de-Port

   Moore and his reluctant donkey Shinto set off from the French Pyrenees over the mountains into Spain, joining the ancient pilgrim road.
